Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 August 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how TreatMeAbroad.com, operating within the RatedDoctor group, handles personal information when you visit the website, submit an enquiry, communicate with us or use an international treatment pathway.
2. Information we may collect
- Identity and contact information, such as name, email address, telephone number, country and preferred contact method.
- Information you choose to provide about the treatment, symptoms, diagnosis, medical history or documents relevant to your enquiry.
- Travel-related information where needed for a pathway, such as preferred dates, destination or companion requirements.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, cookie identifiers and website usage data.
- Administrative records relating to enquiries, quotations, communications, complaints and consent choices.
Online consultation requests
When you submit the consultation form, your contact details, selected specialist and treatment interest are sent through Microsoft 365 from internationalpatient@rateddoctor.com to your selected doctor, with a copy to the TreatMeAbroad coordination team at anand.m@rateddoctor.com. A copy is retained in that mailbox’s Sent Items. The website stores a request reference, a keyed digest and sending status to prevent duplicate submissions. Replies are directed to the email address you provide. Cloudflare Turnstile checks the submission for automated abuse. Do not enter symptoms or upload clinical records through this form; ask your doctor for an appropriate secure channel.
3. Health information
Health information is sensitive personal data. We only seek or use it where needed for the purpose you have requested and where an appropriate legal basis applies. Where possible, clinical records should be shared through the secure method specified for the pathway rather than through ordinary email.
TreatMeAbroad does not use health information to make automated clinical decisions.
4. How we use information
- To respond to enquiries and provide requested pathway information.
- To facilitate communication with a selected doctor, hospital or other provider where you ask us to do so.
- To administer the website, maintain security, prevent misuse and improve service quality.
- To comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, insurance or dispute-resolution requirements.
- To send service communications and, where permitted, marketing communications that you can opt out of.
5. Legal bases
Depending on the context, we rely on consent, steps taken at your request before entering a contract, performance of a contract, legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations and, for special-category health data, an additional lawful condition recognised by applicable data-protection law.
6. Sharing information
We may share relevant information with independent doctors, hospitals, laboratories, rehabilitation providers, technology providers, professional advisers and other organisations necessary to deliver the service you request. We share only what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
We do not sell personal information to advertisers.
7. International transfers
An international treatment pathway may require information to be transferred to a doctor or hospital outside your home country, including India. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we will use an appropriate legal mechanism or obtain valid consent where applicable.
8. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including to manage enquiries, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and maintain appropriate business records. Retention periods can differ depending on whether an enquiry progresses to treatment.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so users should avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information through unsecured channels.
10. Your rights
- Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing of your personal information.
- You may be able to request portability of certain data or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
- You may have the right to complain to the relevant data-protection authority in your country.
11. Children
The general TreatMeAbroad website is intended for adults arranging or considering healthcare. Where a parent or legal guardian makes an enquiry for a child, we may require evidence of authority and apply additional safeguards before processing sensitive information.
12. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies should only be used where required consent has been obtained.
13. Contact and updates
Privacy enquiries can be submitted through the contact details published on TreatMeAbroad.com. We may update this Policy as the service, technology or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page.
